The Absolute Best Deal on Baby Formula

If you have decided to formula feed your baby, you may be searching for the best deal on baby formula. There’s a ton of reasons why a mom may decide to formula feed. A lot of moms try to breastfeed but it may not work out for one reason or another.

Or sometimes moms have to supplement their breastmilk with formula. Or sometimes moms have to go back to work and are unable to pump. Or some moms just plain don’t want to breastfeed, and that’s perfectly fine.

When my baby girl was born I tried breastfeeding. I was only able to do it for about 6 weeks. I tried my hardest to feed on demand and pump in between, but baby girl just was not gaining any weight. At her 6 week check up she had barely gained anything. So the doctor had a discussion with me about supplementing with formula.

I was reluctant but went for it for baby girl’s sake. Then when I started back to work, well breastfeeding went out the door. As a nurse on a busy hospital floor, it’s extremely difficult to find the time to even go pee, let alone pump throughout the day. It is what it is, I guess, and I have a happy and healthy 2 year old running around as we speak.

Listen, you and I both know babies can be expensive! We’ve all heard how much diapers and formula can cost. It will definitely take a chunk out of your wallet. (If you’re also wondering how to save on diapers, read how we got a year’s worth of diapers for free.) But somehow we manage to give our babies exactly what they need. ‘Make it work’ should be the motto of a new mom.

Of course, breastfeeding is the healthiest and least expensive option for your baby. There are so many health benefits to breastfeeding your baby but it doesn’t always work out the way we plan, as we discussed earlier. So, after our disappointing 6-week doctor’s appointment, I began my search for the best formula for my baby that wouldn’t break the bank. This is what I came up with.

My search for the best deal on baby formula begins..

My criteria for finding the best deal on formula was: easy, consistent, and my pediatrician gave her ok. Now, I’ve tried couponing for other things before, and well, it’s very time consuming, to say the least. I know there are some good deals out there, and you could probably get formula for pretty cheap. But, for me, it wasn’t worth the time I would have to put into searching for coupons and different deals and going to a bunch of different stores with a newborn. So for me, couponing was out.

I thought the most convenient way would be to order it with Amazon Prime and get the free 2 day shipping. Well, that didn’t work out either. I wasn’t sure how long each container of formula would last, and I would end up running out before I made another order. Another issue was that Amazon’s supply was inconsistent. I would find a good deal that offered a month’s supply of formula, get it and use it, and the next month that product wasn’t even there anymore.

And the winner is…

Finally, I found something that worked at Sam’s Club. They have a 40 oz can ofa Sam’s Club around I would highly recommend checking out their formula.  Yes, Sam’s Club has a membership fee of $45/year (join here), but this is still cheaper than Amazon, and well worth it to be able to get formula quick, easy and affordable. Plus you can stock up on diapers and wipes while you’re there.

When it comes to providing for our babies, we only want the very best. Parents will always sacrifice to give their children what they need. But there are ways to be smart about it and fit it into your budget. Shop around, search for deals, and find what works best for you. Everyone’s situation is different and for me this deal at Sam’s Club was perfect. If you are searching for the best deal on baby formula, give this deal a try!
