Benefits of Having a Daily Routine
• Having a daily routine to start the day off right can set you up for a great day and can help you be more productive.
• Routines can also help boost your happiness and reduce stress levels.
• Routines will allow you to prepare yourself for the day and allow you to start the day off with intentions instead of letting the day get away from you.
• As you complete your daily routine, you will be more positive because you will be accomplishing more things throughout the day and that will give you a positive feeling.
So how do we create a daily routine so we can start the day off right? What kind of tasks should you add to your daily routine to help you feel positive and more productive?
Make the Bed When You Get Up
It may seem silly but making your bed in the morning when you are ready to start the day will actually make you feel better.
As you make your bed you are mentally preparing yourself for the day without even realizing it. You’ll be lifting your mood and giving yourself a fresh start for the day. Another bonus is that coming home to a made bed in a clean room is relaxing and will help you rest better.
Get Moving Physically
Mornings are the best time to start moving and to get some exercise in. As you get moving you aren’t only getting the benefits of exercising, you are also getting your blood flowing and boosting your energy levels for the day.
If you’re not used to getting up a bit earlier to exercise, now is the time to start. You will be surprised at just how good you feel when you take a few minutes in the morning for some physical exercise. Another good option is meditation.
Eat A Good Healthy Breakfast
Add a healthy breakfast to your morning routine to give you a boost of energy to keep you going. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and a healthy breakfast will help you get the day started right. If you are a coffee lover, breakfast is the perfect time to enjoy a cup of hot coffee or even a bulletproof coffee if you’re into that.
Take Time to Be Thankful
Practice gratitude and being thankful for everything that you have each and every morning. Not only will it have a positive effect on your physical health, but it will also have a huge impact on your mental health.
While things may be down or dark, practicing gratitude helps you achieve a more positive outlook on your life and helps you get going in the mornings so that you attack your day.
In the midst of kids screaming, a growing pile of laundry, a home that looks like a warzone it can all seem overwhelming so being thankful for the small things can help you get through the big things.

Take a Few Minutes to Plan for Tomorrow
You’ve probably been in the situation, at some point, where you were up at night trying to rack your brain on whether you have forgotten to do something or not. This is where making a list, a plan, or a schedule for the next day will help.
So, before you lay down for the night, take a few minutes to prepare for the next day. Start your list of what tasks or chores need to be done tomorrow. Making a list of the things that need to be done is a good way to mentally prepare yourself for the next day.
Now, all of those things you were trying to mentally remember to do, is on a list that you can visually see. Since your brain isn’t going a million miles a minute trying to remember what needs to be done, you will be able to get a good night sleep.
As a bonus, when you complete an item off the list you can mark the task complete which will give you a sense of accomplishment.

Things to Remember
Now that you have a few ideas on how to get started and what to put on your daily schedule, keep in mind that there is no one-size fits all approach. What works for someone else might not be a fit for you and vice versa. The goal is to set up a daily routine that works for you and makes you more productive and feeling good.
Keep it simple and start out slow. If you are trying to change your morning routine, start out with just a few changes and go from there. Changing everything up all at once can have a negative impact and can make you feel like you want to give up.
Take a step back and try a few different things to see what energizes you and lifts your spirits when starting your day. Give it a trial run after you have decided to make a few changes. Once you know what works for you and makes you feel more productive, you can customize your morning routine to fit your lifestyle.
It would be awesome if you could create a printable for wellness and self care to put in the journals. Maybe include a section to choose your mood by a picture to select, have a section for “rise and grind”, todays appts, and bedtime, a meditative activity section, physical activity section, then daily reflections (acts of self care, acts of kindness, lessons learned, what i am grateful for, daily affirmations) and then do a weekly self-care recap 🙂
That’s a great idea!
